Hope & Joy for America’s Future

“Hope is not a political strategy,” but it certainly is an optimistic tone for a political campaign.
After a decade of darkness, division, and derision, the Harris/Walz campaign conveys another
way to envision our American future. As Americans we possess an inherent ability to use our
resources to solve problems. As Americans we can achieve anything when we put our collective
will behind a project. The Harris/Walz campaign has reminded us that we can attain a bright
future based on what we accomplish together. There’s trust in our own competence and the
competence of our elected leaders so together we can meet our expectations for a brighter future.
There’s excitement and enthusiasm in politics today that we’ve missed for years; a conviction
that ordinary citizens, engaged in the electoral process, can effect meaningful changes to benefit
all Americans. And, we can accomplish this with a smile, not a snarl. Rather than calling one
another names and attempting to label some groups as unworthy of participating in the American
dream, we can include everyone.

The mood has changed for the voting public to one of active engagement, and an understanding
that effective government must represent all views. To govern effectively means that sometimes,
each political perspective compromises to move forward. We’re all in this together. It is only
with one another that the U.S. with survive and thrive as the world’s greatest democracy.
